From Laboratory Scientist to Entrepreneur: My Journey in the Netherlands

When I first moved to the Netherlands, I was faced with the challenge of starting a career in a new country where I didn’t speak the language and had no established network. However, my background in microbiology and years of experience as a laboratory scientist in India and Europe fueled my determination to succeed. I worked with Randstad Uitzendbureau as a Laboratory Scientist, where I worked in a multicultural environment, overcoming language barriers and adapting to new work cultures. Despite the challenges of not knowing Dutch, I managed to support myself and thrive in a professional environment, proving that language should never be a barrier to success.

In the process, I not only built a fulfilling career but also gained a strong desire to help others, particularly students who, like me, were moving to the Netherlands to pursue their dreams. I started supporting students with relocation challenges, guiding them through the complexities of settling into a new country. My personal journey of adapting to a new life and career became a source of motivation for many students.

As my career progressed, I realized I could do more. I registered my own business with the Kamer van Koophandel (KvK) to formalize my efforts. My goal is now to help students make a successful transition into their academic and professional careers in the Netherlands, especially those interested in biological sciences and STEM fields. Through my consultancy, I aim to provide guidance on academic challenges, career paths, and the relocation process.

One of the services I offer is connecting students with housing options and employment opportunities. I have built strong connections with recruiters and agencies that can help students find jobs and internships in the Netherlands. Moreover, I have a network of STEM subject matter experts who can assist students struggling in their studies. Starting this journey wasn’t easy, but it was worth every step. I’ve built a career in the Netherlands, developed my business, and, most importantly, now have the opportunity to help others achieve their dreams.
